For the world’s largest production facility for packaging steel, itestra implemented an SAP-based logistics, planning and maintenance solution. Thus the solution is responsible for the management and supply of equipment and components for the production of packaging steel. The new SAP EAM-based solution developed by itestra replaces an Adabas Natural Application, which has been used for many decades.
In a first implementation step, the target processes were recorded and documented, starting with the procurement of relevant operating material to external processing, to the reworking and scrapping. Based on this, the required functions were implemented in several iterations and integrated with other SAP modules such as FI / CO and MM. In addition, the production control system was connected via interfaces (IDoc, BAPI), which enabled indirect communication with the plant computers.
Furthermore, the SAP-based solution offers many new possibilities compared to the previous system, such as an appropriate distribution of costs on production lines, a complete history of all operating resources and various evaluations. These evaluations provide information to optimize costs of maintenance and servicing of operating material systematically. The integration of the business rule management system BRFplus into the new solution also achieves a simple modeling of conformity tests with regard to the installation of certain equipment at the same time. These rules can be viewed and controlled by the business department at any time.
The project was carried out as a fixed-price contract.
